Dean's List VoxBox

Hey Ya'll,

It has been quite a while and I have waited to the last minute to review my latest VoxBox from Influenster. This time I received the Dean's List VoxBox.

In the Dean's VoxBox was:

Luden's Blue Raspberry Throat Drops:
These tasted wonderful. My boyfriend actually had a sore throat the day I received my VoxBox. He literally wanted to eat them like candy. haha. I would definitely buy these if I were even thinking that I was starting to feel a sore throat coming on.

Pilot FriXion Clicker:
These pens write pretty well. I have always like Pilot pens. However, I don't think that I would buy these pens just because I don't have a use for the eraser. If you like erasable pens, these may be the pens for you though.

SinfulColors No Text Red:
I LOVE the color of this nail polish. It will be perfect with Christmas being right around the corner. It is a true red, which is hard to find in my opinion. You either get an orange-y red or a pink-ish red and this is neither. It is perfect and really pretty.

Softlips Cube:
I have been using this on my lips everyday for the past couple weeks. With the cold weather comes dry, chapped lips. This works well immediately for dry lips. However, it doesn't really work in the long run. My lips are just as dry as they were before I used it. Therefore, I find myself using it about 30 times a day. However, it is good for immediate relief.

Airheads Bites:
I'm not 100% sure how I really feel about these. They were...interesting. I didn't think they really tasted like Airheads. Maybe it was a mental thing though. I usually really like Airheads but I thought these Airhead Bites had a texture that was different than I expected. I would probably buy them again if I was wanting something different but they aren't a new go-to candy or anything for me.

Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes:
I should first disclose that I am awful with fake lashes. They never stay on me. It is probably my fault because I'm not very good at putting them on and I generally just get frustrated. However, for the few minutes I had them on, they looked really pretty. If someone else were wearing them, I likely wouldn't have even noticed they were fake.

COVERGIRL Ready, Set Gorgeous Liquid Foundation:
This product did not appear in my VoxBox. I'm not sure if they only put it in some or if mine was accidentally left out.

Playtex Sport Fresh Balance:
I like these tampons. I use them regularly. But, to be honest, there isn't really anything special about them. They seem like normal 'ole plastic tampons. If you haven't found a tampon that you like, try these out and you will like them.

**I received these products for free to test and review.

Venus Snap VoxBox

I received Venus Snap VoxBox from Influenster a couple of weeks ago. Inside was the Venus Gillette Snap with Embrace.

My first impression was that it looked really small and I wasn't sure I was going to like it. However, I used it this past weekend while I was a bridesmaid in a wedding. It was perfect! I love that it comes with a case. That makes it easy to travel with and you don't have to worry about it getting everything wet or the blades cutting anything. Also, I love that it uses the same blades as all of the other Gillette razors. I would actually be willing to use this razor when I travel more for the reason that I don't have to buy a special blade that I don't already use. I love the razor! I will definitely be traveling with it from now on!

Uni VoxBox

I recently received the Uni VoxBox from Influenster.

Inside was Red Rose Real Tea Premium Water Enhancers, Pilot Acroball Pure White, Broadway Nails imPRESS Manicures, Playtex Sport Fresh Balance, Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation, and NYC New York Color Expert Last Lipstick. Below are my reviews of these products.

In my VoxBox, I received the Blackcurrant Raspberry flavor.I have yet to try this product.

Pilot Acroball Pure White

I really like these pens for two reasons. One because I like the colors that they come in. While they write black, they have pretty grips that are in different colors. I received the orange one in my VoxBox but I have bought the purple and green ones. Also, the pens write really well. The ink flows really nicely and the pens writes smoothly. I used this pen daily until the ink ran out.

I have not really tried this product yet because I do not prefer fake nails. They usually fall off and/or leave that glue all over the place. However, I will try these when I have time.

Playtex Sport Fresh Balance
Playtex® Sport® Fresh Balance™
I thought these tampons were just average. There was nothing incredibly special about them. They do have a plastic applicator and a slight scent but otherwise there is nothing super wonderful about them other than that they work.

I also have not used this product yet, but I plan to very soon because I think I will like it. However, just from looking at it, I don't like that it does not have sunscreen in it.

Once again, I also haven't tried this product yet. The color is a pretty light pink like the one pictured above.

My Review of the Influenster Jolly VoxBox.

As I told y'all a couple of weeks ago, I received my first VoxBox from Influenster.
The first product I noticed when I opened the VoxBox was the
Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates.
At first I was very weary about trying this product. While I love chocolate (and peanut butter, which is the flavor I received), I wasn't sure that it would be good because it is "healthy chocolate." Only 130 calories in one serving. However, I surprised to find out that one serving is three pieces of chocolate and it was delicious. The chocolate tasted like chocolate and the peanut butter tasted like peanut butter. Surprising, I know. Both the chocolate and the peanut butter were creamy also. The one downside I found was that it was not sweet enough for my taste. However, when I asked other people to try them, they disagreed. I would definitely buy any of the Skinny Cow products and try them after trying the Divine Filled Chocolates.

The Second product I noticed was the
NYC HD Color Trio Eye Shadow.
My first impression of this eye shadow was that the colors were exactly what I would normally buy. The first time I tried this product, I did it based on the way NYC had it labeled, which was the darkest color (which is in the middle) goes on the lid of the eye, the middle shade (which is on the bottom) goes in the crease of the eye, and the lightest shade (the one on the top) goes on the brow bone. The first thing I noticed was that the colors were not as vibrant or "bright" as I thought they should be. In fact, when I went out with my family later that day, my mom asked why I wasn't wearing any make up. Every time I wore this eyeshadow after the first time I switched the darkest and the middle shade on my eye so that the darkest was in the crease and the middle shade was on the lid. I definitely liked wearing it this way much better but I still noticed that the colors just don't "pop" enough for me.
If you prefer your make up to be more natural or look like you aren't wearing any, this is the perfect product for you. Otherwise, it is just ok.

The third product I noticed in my box was the
Duck Tape Mini Duckling.
I love that this duck tape is so bright and colorful and small. I have not yet put this duck tape to use but I have seen so many incredible crafts that people have made with the duck tape. I like the idea of the mini ducklings (just a small roll) because there are so many more intricate things you can do with the tape than if it was a big roll. Also, I love that it is duck tape brand because as we all know, it is the most trusted brand of duck tape available. It is always sticky and always durable.

The next product was the
Puffs Plus Lotion Purse Pack.
I should preface by saying that there are two things I am incredibly picky about and that is toilet paper and tissues. Puffs is one of my favorite brands of tissues because it is soft and not scratchy. When your nose is running and it is cold outside, it is not pleasurable to have a cheap tissue rubbing your nose raw. The Puffs plus Lotion are even softer than the regular Puffs. I love them and I love that they come in a purse pack because they can fit in a purse or a book bag with ease. I took several of these purse packs with me last year when I was sick and flying to New York City for vacation. They were perfect!

The last product was the
Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer.
Once again, I was not disappointed by the colors of this lip product. I was confused what lip lacquer was but soon after trying it, I realized that it is a mix between a lip stick and a lip gloss. I would say, however, that it is more like a lip gloss but it is not shiny. I have used this lip lacquer several times since I got it and the two things I do not like about it are that it is not glossy and it is not moisturizing. If your lips are chapped when you apply this product, they will stay chapped and the color will just sit on top of the chapp-ness.  I did try using chapstick under it and it helped a lot. I did love the color of the product though.

So far, my experience with Influenster has been great. I received all of these products free from Influenster in exchange for my honest review of the products.

My First VoxBox Has Arrived!

If you read the title of this post and wondered "What is a VoxBox?" here is a quick overview.

A VoxBox is a box of free goodies that you receive from a website called Influenster. Influenster is a website that allows user to review products, stores, and places and then sends them free stuff to also review. The VoxBox is the free stuff that the influenster team wants reviewed.

I was a little worried when I first signed up for Influenster, I found out about it from a sorority sister of mine. I signed up because I usually have an opinion about everything I try so I thought, why not share that opinion and try to make some of these products better, or share what I love most about my favorite products. As I said before, I was a little worried, because I was signed up for two weeks and my influenster score had not budged from Zero. I linked my blog, facebook, pinterest accounts and nothing happened. I reviewed tons of products and again nothing happened. I had really given up that I would ever be able to get my score above Zero. However, I randomly logged in one day (while taking a break from finals) and my score was a 68. I was super happy but frustrated at the Influenster at the same time. I had almost given up on the site because I thought it was a gimmick at that point but now I am happy I went back.

So now to the VoxBox, I just received my first one less than 10 minutes ago in the mail. And as usual, the mailman scared me and made me think someone was breaking in my house. I recieved the JollyVoxBox which contains Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates Candy (Peanut Butter Creme), Puffs Plus Lotion Tissues, NYC HD Color Trio Eye Shadow, Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer, and a role of Duck Tape mini duckling. When I found out what was going to be in the box I got nervous once again, I am very picky about my makeup so I was worried that the lip lacquer and the eye shadow was going to be some outrageous color that I was never going to wear. However, I was really impressed with the colors that they sent because it is really something anybody can wear. I will review these items here on my blog as soon as I get a chance to try them out.

If you have any questions about the VoxBox or Influenster, feel free to ask away and I will do my best to answer your questions the best I can.

Fitness!

I just recently found out that I am going to be in my boyfriend's brother's wedding next May. I have been upset about my weight gain since I started college and so I have decided that now will be the perfect time for me to try to lose the weight since I have a time frame and something to look forward to. I am currently starting Week 3 of Insanity. To be honest, I am so proud of myself for getting this far in the program. The first week was dreadful! I was sore beyond words. However, I think I had the most motivation my first week which is what got me through it. I have printed off my schedule for the 6 weeks (which is how long the program is) and I feel so accomplished everyday when I get to mark off a workout that I have completed. My parents have been trying to lose weight as well and they have asked to borrow my Insanity dvds. The problem is that Insanity is really for the younger crowd who is not extremely out of shape. It is extremely high cardio and requires a lot of jumping around and bending over, which isn't usually fun or easy when you are older.

I have also been counting my calories, but more so my sugar because that is where I fail, with an app called My Fitness Pal. I can't tell you how wonderful this app is. I get so excited to log in everyday and track both my workout and my meals (unless of course I ate horribly and didn't work out). It was a chore to get used to being honest with myself about what I really ate but I have found that it is ok to have something bad every once in a while as long as it is in moderation.

I can't really tell a difference in my body just yet but I can tell a difference in my workout. Every two weeks of insanity, you do a fit test. During the fit test, you count how many of each exercise you can do within one minute. I definitely saw improvement in most of the categories, however, I do wonder if maybe I just know the exercise better, which would have helped me improve.

Although I have not seen much difference in my body yet, I know it will take time. So until then, I will keep pushing.

First Post!

Well, here it is, my first post! I have never done much blogging but I thought I would like to give it a try. I have so many ideas for the things I want to blog about that I couldn't even come up with a name for the blog. You may be wondering, what does a Southern Girl love? Well, for each of us that is obviously different but for me it is Crafts and Food! I love to try new things when it comes to both of these but I must admit that sometimes I fail, miserably. But I have learned to laugh at myself and move on. I also like to try new products which I may tell you about here and there. I look forward to telling you more about my adventures soon.
